Short biography

Anđelko Domazet was born in 1962 in Split. He attended primary school in Sinj from 1968 to 1976. In 1976, he entered the Franciscan Seminary in Sinj, where he graduated from the Franciscan Classical Grammar School in 1980. He earned a graduate degree in theology on 15 June 1988 at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Zagreb. He was ordained a priest in 1989 in Split as a member of the Franciscan Province of the Most Holy Redeemer.

At the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he earned a licentiate in theology in 1992 (specialization: fundamental theology). At the same university, he defended his dissertation in fundamental theology on October 26, 1995, and part of his doctoral thesis (Questioni cristologiche in Romano Guardini) was published in Italian in Rome on May 3, 1996.

He taught at the Franciscan Theological School in Makarska from the 1995/1996 to the 1998/1999 academic years.

On October 16, 2003, he was elected to the academic-teaching title of Assistant Professor at the Chair of Dogmatic Theology of the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Split, and on June 16, 2010, he was elected to the title of Associate Professor at the same faculty.

From 2010 to 2020, he served as head of the Chair of Fundamental Theology at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Split.

On 29 March 2017, at a session of the Senate of the University of Split, he was elected to the academic-teaching title of Full Professor — first appointment — at the Chair of Fundamental Theology.

On 27 February 2023, at a session of the Senate of the University of Split, he was elected to the academic-teaching title of tenured Full Professor at the Chair of Fundamental Theology.

He also teaches in the postgraduate program at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Split.

As Vice-Dean for Science (2006–2008), he organized and led the development of the postgraduate program at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Split. From 2015 to 2018, he served as Dean of the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Split.

He is a member of the editorial council of the international Catholic journal Communio and of the scientific council of the journal Crkva u svijetu (The Church in the World).
