Short biography
Domagoj Runje (OFM) was born in 1973 in Sinj, Croatia. He attended primary school in Karakašica/Sinj and the Franciscan Classical Grammar School in Sinj. He entered the Franciscan Province of the Most Holy Redeemer (Split) in 1991. He spent his novitiate in Sumartin on the island of Brač and studied theology in Makarska (1992–1996) and in Zagreb (1996–1997), where he earned the academic degree of Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology in 1997. He was ordained a priest in 1998 in Šibenik. In 1999, he began studies in Sacred Scripture in Rome, earning a licentiate in biblical studies from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in 2003. That same year, he enrolled in the doctoral program in theology with a biblical specialization at the Pontifical University Antonianum, where he defended his doctoral dissertation, “The People of God in the Temple Scroll,” in 2007. Since 2009, he has taught at the Chair of Old Testament Scripture at the Catholic Faculty of Theology of the University of Split, alongside his other religious and priestly duties. He is especially active in biblical and pilgrimage pastoral ministry.
